[USED] Geology of Glasgow and District
Description
McCallien, W.J., hardback, 183 pages, Blackie and Son Ltd., 1938.
This book deals with history, but it is a history of a special kind. Every rock has a story to tell, in much the same way as every ancient manuscript or prehistoric site. In the case of the rocks, however, it is nearly always possible for everyone, amateur or professional, to examine the evidence from which the geological story is built up. The original documents are the rocks themselves. In the following pages I [the author] have tried to tell the story of the evolution of the Glasgow district as it is recorded in the earth's crust, and to indicate the most convenient localities where the rocks are well displayed to illustrate particular points.
