[USED] Under Grotto Mountain - Rat's Nest Cave, Canada
Description
Charles J Yonge, PB, 144pp, Rocky Mountain Books, 2001,
Near Canmore, Alberta, Canada, Rat's Nest Cave is a museum of time. During the ice ages groundwater from extinct glaciers was pumped through faults within the mountain, sculpting out the intricate passageways and large chambers we see today. Evidence shows the cave was used by animals some 7000 years ago and by people as a shelter 2-3000 years ago. After a gap of 1000 years, the cave was rediscovered by the Palliser Expedition in 1858 and modern explorers have revealed 50km of passages. Illustrated with numerous photos.
