First published in 1950 this is a facsimile reprint of the 1974 edition. The line was built to serve the Lead Mines of the Stiperstones area located in South Shropshire. When all the mines closed the railway it survived to continue transporting Barytes and other materials. It some characteristics with Welsh Narrow Gauge Railways but had its own rolling stock which is unique.
