The research for this book began as an investigation into the causes of the deaths in 1837 of four children belonging to Frost's great-great-grandfather. As Frost delved deeper into Victorian superstitions, attitudes and practices surrounding the many deaths and disasters in what is now the Telford area, he decided to document his findings. The result of several years' work is contained in this highly readable volume.
