This brochure is produced by the Chamber of Mines of South Africa. The Chamber is an association of gold, uranium, antimony, asbestos, coal, copper, diamond and platinum mining companies and of mining-finance houses.
These free-enterprise companies that are members of the Chamber of Mines produce each year some two-thirds of the world's newly mined gold and much of the world's diamonds, platinum and antimony. They produce all of South Africa's uranium and nearly all of its coal.
